Haslam abandons outsourcing park operations

The Haslam administration announced it will no longer pursue outsourcing the management and operations of any of Tennessee’s state parks.

The announcement was made by Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation Commissioner Bob Martineau during the August 24, 2017 legislative joint summer study for HB944/SB1047, TSEA’s contract accountability bill.

According to Commissioner Martineau, the administration decided to leave park outsourcing decisions to the next administration and instead focus on capital projects which have already been approved, including tearing down and rebuilding the inn and conference center at Fall Creek Falls State Park.
