Speaker Pro Tempore Bill Dunn has announced that after 26
years of service to the residents of House District 16 in the Knoxville area,
he will not seek reelection in 2020.

“For almost 30 years it has been a pleasure working
with Rep. Dunn both as a fellow legislator and in my current role with
TSEA,” TSEA Executive Director and former State Representative Randy
Stamps said. “We will miss his fair-minded, reasonable, and steady
approach. I am glad to call him a friend and I wish him a very happy
retirement.”

Throughout his tenure in office, Rep. Dunn has supported and
sponsored many pieces of legislation for state employees. His leadership was
critical in 2012 when he was asked to navigate the TEAM Act bill through the
legislature.

“Rep. Dunn was essential to the successful amendments
to the TEAM Act,” former TSEA Government Affairs Director Sarah Adair, who
worked with Rep. Dunn during the TEAM Act negotiations, said. “He stalled
committees and forced negotiations to the very end, and continues to this day
to honor his commitment to legislatively address any concerns that arose as a
result of the TEAM Act. In 2012, Rep. Dunn gave us his word, and he’s never
wavered in protecting state employees. He was also my boss as Leader during the
Ethics Special Session, and I could not be prouder of him and all his years of
service. He will be greatly missed, and I wish him all the best in
retirement.”

TSEA thanks Rep. Bill Dunn for his many years of service to
Tennessee and his steadfast support of state employees. Rep. Dunn is a man of
high integrity, and we will miss his presence and wisdom in the halls of the
legislature. We look forward to working with Rep. Dunn in the months ahead as
he serves his final session with the Tennessee General Assembly.
