State Announces Changes to Employee Performance Management Program

Gov. Bill Haslam and Tennessee Department of Human Resources (DOHR) Commissioner Rebecca Hunter today revealed changes to the performance management program for state employees.

According to a news release, “Performance Management 2.0”, or “PM 2.0”, differs from the current performance management program in two ways:

  1. Employees will have the option to provide comments and feedback throughout the annual performance review cycle, including the interim 1, interim 2, and final reviews, providing opportunities to document work accomplishments and foster proactive communication and coaching between employees and supervisors.
  2. All employees will be reviewed on competencies and behavioral expectations to foster a culture of service and engagement. The mandatory competency for all employees will be Customer Focus, and the additional mandatory competency for all supervisors will be Developing Direct Reports and Others.

The new performance management program is effective for all state employees for the 2017-2018 performance cycle, beginning today, November 1, 2017.
