TSEA Lobby Day 2025

TSEA’s 2025 Lobby Day is scheduled for

Tuesday, April 8, 2025

Deadline to Register: Monday, March 17, 2025 @ 4:30 p.m. CDT

TSEA’s Lobby Day on the Hill is an opportunity for members to meet with their district legislators and focus the conversation specifically on TSEA’s legislative agenda items for this year.

This legislative session is extremely important for TSEA and state employees. It is the start of a new general assembly and member discussions with area legislators on legislation that TSEA proposes, supports, or opposes (when needed), is critical.

Returning to a regular format in 2025, we have invited Governor Bill Lee to speak to attendees on April 8th. Should Governor Lee attend, we will convene that morning in the State Capitol House Chamber to hear the Governor’s remarks. However, if the Governor is unable to participate, plans are to transport members from the Holiday Inn Nashville to the Cordell Hull Building for legislative appointments.

Remember, chapters should already be working to set appointments with their area legislators for Tuesday, April 8. If possible, please make legislative appointments for any time you are not in the House Chamber.

And please share your chapter’s legislative appointments with the TSEA Office.

1. Each chapter may bring a maximum of 8 TSEA members at TSEA expense:

  • 4 Chapter Officers – President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer – (Substitutions Allowed)
  • 4 Additional Chapter Members. If possible, please also include your chapter’s TEAM PAC Assistant

If a chapter wants to bring more than 8 members, please coordinate additional attendees with Nicole Ramey or Linda Darden at the TSEA office.

2. ID Access to Buildings:

Remember to bring your State ID badge for easy access to the Capitol and/or Cordell Hull Building on Lobby Day. For retiree members, please bring a form of ID.

3. Hotel Lodging, Meals & Travel Reimbursement:

Chapter members with a 50+ mile driving distance to the event may request overnight lodging (at double occupancy) for Monday, April 7, at the Holiday Inn Nashville Vanderbilt, 2613 West End Avenue, Nashville, TN 37203.

  • The TSEA policy requires double occupancy of rooms. Any request for a single room will require the member to pay the full cost for that room. Any member bringing a guest is required to have a single room, so there is no inconvenience to the other member occupying the room. For a single room, the cost is $169.00, and the single room charge must be paid to TSEA prior to Lobby Day.
  • The hotel is a non-smoking hotel. There will be a charge to the member if there is any smoking in the sleeping or meeting rooms.
  • Overnight lodging for additional chapter members, more than the allotted 8, can be paid from chapter fundraising dollars.
  • Plans and payment for member transportation by bus from a region must be submitted and approved by the TSEA Accounting office (Tim Clo) before March 3, 2025.
  • To cancel your reservation, call TSEA by 4:30 p.m. CDT on Friday, March 21, 2025.
  • TSEA will provide all meals for registered members while at the Lobby Day event (no meal reimbursement).
  • Mileage is reimbursed at .55 cents per mile. We continue to urge members to “rideshare” to Association meetings by having at least two (2) members per vehicle.
  • Beginning at 8:00 a.m. on Tuesday, vans leave the hotel for either the House Chamber or the Cordell Hull Building (main entrance on 5th Avenue).
  • Tuesday at 2:00 p.m., vans will begin leaving the Cordell Hull Building (main entrance) and return to the hotel. Vans will continue running until all members are transported back to the hotel.
  • Members not staying at the hotel can park at the Holiday Inn Nashville Vanderbilt and ride the van to and from the Capitol/Cordell Hull Building.

Contact Keisha Pittman at the TSEA office if you need parking and will NOT be an overnight hotel guest.

We ask that you keep in mind, based on legislative offices in the Cordell Hull Building, that there is substantial walking between the Capitol and CHB.
