Remembering Roderick Sharp

TSEA is deeply saddened by the sudden loss of TSEA Board Member Roderick Sharp, 45, who died Thursday, May 5, 2022. Rod is survived by his wife Heather and his son Owen. He worked for the Tennessee Highway Patrol as a State Trooper in West Tennessee and served as our District 1 Board Director.

“Rod Sharp was a good man who cared deeply for his family and state employees,” TSEA Executive Director Randy Stamps said. “We will miss his friendship and his presence on our board. Our prayers are with his family during this incredibly difficult time.”

Members will remember Rod Sharp during his time on the board for his measured, calm demeanor and reasoned approach to addressing state employee issues. He was a loving husband and father, a loyal friend, was passionate about state employees, and will be missed greatly by his TSEA family. We hope our members will join us in keeping his wife Heather, his son Owen, and his other surviving family and coworkers in your thoughts and prayers.

Rod was a member of TSEA since 2008 and, in late 2020, was appointed by the TSEA Board to serve as District 1 Director after Heather Sharp, his wife, stepped down from her seat. In 2021 Rod was re-elected to serve a new term.
