Safety Alert: Impact of Hurricane Helene on Tennessee

TSEA is closely monitoring the developing weather conditions as the remnants of Hurricane Helene move through our state. We are concerned for the safety of all Tennessee state employees and encourage everyone to take precautions.

Many communities across Tennessee are already experiencing downed trees, power lines, power outages, and blocked roadways due to flooding and debris. Please be aware that travel may be hazardous, and detours are likely.

Safety Tips from TEMA:

  • Travel only if absolutely necessary.
  • Follow detour signs and expect delays.
  • DO NOT self-deploy to assist impacted areas. Wait for local officials to issue guidance on when and how help can be provided.
  • Stay informed and follow advice from the Tennessee Emergency Management Agency (TEMA) for the latest updates.

As we receive more information that impacts you, we will promptly share those details.

Your safety is our priority. Please take all necessary precautions, and let’s get through this safely together.
