Understanding the New Performance Management Cycle

We have received many phone calls about the timing of this year’s Pay for Performance (P4P) rewards. Based on information from the Department of Human Resources (included below), P4P rewards will not appear in your July paycheck. The State of Tennessee has moved the Performance Management (PM) cycle to end on July 31st, 2023, and the distribution of Pay for Performance (P4P) rewards, including any base increase, will be effective from September 1st. Therefore, the increase will not be reflected in July but will be paid out by September 30th for eligible employees.

Here is information from DoHR:

Performance Management FAQs For Employees
2022-2023 PM Cycle

Leading performance management best practice is to distribute Pay for Performance (P4P) rewards based on an employee’s current performance. The State of Tennessee is moving the Performance Management (PM) cycle to end on July 31st, 2023, to provide performance (P4P) reward distribution sooner than in previous years. With this change in the cycle, the State will now be able to reward eligible employees in September.

What does this mean for you?

• Employees on a standard PM cycle will only be required to complete one interim review for the 2022-2023 PM cycle.

• On Friday, May 5th:
o The Edison Team will change the September 30th document end date on all Standard Cycle documents to July 31st.
o The Edison Team will auto-complete Interim Review 2 for all Standard cycle documents if Interim Review 1 is complete.

• PM documents must be completed by July 31st, 2023; no extensions provided.

• PM Documents not completed by July 31st will default to Meets Expectations; Be sure to acknowledge your document by July 31st. Please note that acknowledging means a discussion was held with your supervisor.

• P4P rewards (base increase and/or bonus) will be effective September 1st and payout by September 30th for eligible employees.
