IMPORTANT UPDATE: State Insurance Committee Election

Reminder – Late in the day on Tuesday Oct. 24, due to an error, the state had to restart the State Insurance Committee Election. Employees who voted in the election on Monday, October 23rd or Tuesday, October 24th, MUST go back and vote again.

If you voted before the change on Tuesday, your vote will not count unless you vote again.

The deadline for voting is Friday, November 3rd.

Below is the updated information for voting (originally published on Oct. 25):

IMPORTANT: Some of the information sent out by Benefits Administration about the State Insurance Committee Election has been updated. Their original information did not include all of the qualified candidates but has since been updated. This means they must restart the elections process, which also means if you already voted you will need to vote again. A new link to vote has also been created.

The state employee who was inadvertently omitted from the original list also happens to be a TSEA member. Below is an updated list, in alphabetical order, of all the TSEA members who are candidates in the election. (NOTE: This is not the entire list of candidates; this is a list of only those candidates who are also TSEA members.)

  • Sarah Adair
  • Tijuana Bradley-Marsh
  • Deborah Field
  • Teresa J. Frank
  • Judy Hamilton
  • Valerie Lawrence
  • Cynthia Minnick
  • Kevin Petty
  • Buffy Porch
  • Jason Robinette
  • Aaron Rummage
  • Sandra Wilson

As a reminder, you may only vote ONE time for ONE candidate.

To be eligible to vote in this election you must be enrolled in at least one of the following: health, dental, vision, long term care, voluntary term, or voluntary accidental death and dismemberment (AD&D) insurance with the State Group Insurance Program.

Higher Education employees and retirees are not eligible to vote in this election.

Here is the updated email from Benefits Administration:

Benefits Administration, the entity that oversees the State Group Insurance Program, is administering the election of one state employee representative to fill the remainder of a three-year term to serve as a member of the State Insurance Committee. The term expires June 30, 2019.

The ballot issued Monday, Oct. 23, 2017, inadvertently left off one candidate. Because of this, the ballot and list of approved candidates (including the attached brief resumes) is being reissued here.

If you have already voted, after considering the qualifications of all eligible candidates, you will need to vote again. We apologize for this inconvenience.

Attached is a list of approved candidates, including background information they submitted on their individual resume forms.

Below is a link to a ballot. The deadline to vote is Friday, Nov. 3, 2017, at 4:30 p.m. Central time. You may only vote ONE time for ONE candidate.

To be eligible to vote you must be enrolled in at least one of the following: health, dental, vision, long term care, voluntary term, or voluntary accidental death and dismemberment (AD&D) insurance with the State Group Insurance Program.
