The Legislative Session is in the home stretch, and we anticipate another successful year for state employees, with significant investments supportive of state employees contained in this year’s budget, pending passage. Don’t forget to ask and thank your legislators for their continued support of state and higher education employees in the budget.
In other news, the Paid Leave Bill has been approved by both the House and Senate, but they have different versions. A conference committee will work on reconciling these differences, and further changes may be made. Right now, the Senate version has 12 weeks of paid leave, while the House version has 6 weeks.
Also, the supplemental budget released on Tuesday has funding for market adjustments to the Secretary of State and Treasury positions. These positions were left out of the first budget proposal, causing them to fall behind other state government roles.
Lobby Day
On Monday, many of our members will travel to Nashville to attend our annual Lobby Day. We are excited to see our members and for the opportunity to interact with our elected officials as a collective group of state employees. We intend to express our gratitude for the recent investments in supporting state workers.
