TEAM is the non-partisan political action arm of the Tennessee State Employees Association. The nine-member TEAM Administrative Committee, which serves as the governing body directing the activities of TEAM. Nominations for candidates must be received at the TSEA headquarters no later than 4:30 pm, Tuesday, April 9, 2013.
TEAM exists to encourage participation in political activities and its purpose is to engage positive action in order to:
(a) Promote the welfare of active and retired state employees in the State of Tennessee,
(b) Encourage all persons to participate in political activities for the purpose of obtaining or developing governmental policies, legislation, administration, and finances for the advancement of the cause of good government in Tennessee,
(c) Encourage all persons to participate in political activities to procure candidates and to elect to office persons who are interested in the betterment of the working and retirement conditions of state and other public employees and advancement of the cause of good government in Tennessee, and
(d) To engage in all lawful activities in pursuance of these stated objectives.
All nominees must be regular members of TEAM and of TSEA. Three members will be elected from each grand division of the state. The term of office is two years.
The respective regional delegates to the June TSEA Representative Assembly will vote by a secret ballot to fill these positions. In the event only one nominee is presented for the positions available, the nominees are elected by voice vote at the annual meeting.
Nominations shall be made in writing, be signed by the nominee and include signatures of twenty five (25) members. The nomination must state which regional position is desired and be submitted to the Executive Director no later than tomorrow’s April 9 deadline date, which is at least sixty (60) days prior to the annual meeting and election.
The Executive Director shall cause to be printed a picture and biographical sketch of each candidate in a publication of the TSEA that is mailed to each member at least twenty (20) days prior to the election at the TEAM annual meeting in June.
